BASIC HARDWARE DESCRIPTION:
SENSOR:
All TAT transducer sensors uses a MEMs vibrating quartz crystals as a
dynamic digital strain sensors mounted in metal part. The metal part
transfers the load to the crystals and provides environmental protection. The crystals are of a
patented geometry, which together with the metal part design yields inherently low temperature
sensitivity and good rejection of loading imperfections. TAT
technology offers the advantages of micromechanics without the typical
disadvantages.
The crystal responds to the load with a varying frequency while an
optional second crystal acts as a fixed reference
whereby a frequency difference is the signal from the load cell to a TAT
on board electronics. The TAT
electronics has an on board microprocessor which outputs a direct RS-232
signal and provides internal correction for temperature and nonlinearity.
On board IC chips optionally provide a high level voltage signal and an
analog current signal.
ELECTRONICS:
All required electronics are contained within the transducer assembly (or
optionally in a box cabled to the transducer provided with the TAT system.)
No special amplifiers, power supplies,
cabling, mounting brackets or load interface hardware or calibration boxes are required.
